THE SOUTH TOUR
The South circuit is done along the National Road 7, and will allowed you to meet the local population, such as the Betsileo tribes, Bara, Sakalava, Antandroy, and to discover various scenarios across mountains, plains, valleys, forest and desertic plateau.

- SOUTH TOUR combined with a trip by train and walk along the Pangalane Channel.
- SOUTH TOUR with an extension mountain climbing and visit to Andringitra National Park.
The itinerary will be possible of being flexible.
CLASSICAL SOUTH TOUR
Day 1 : TANA – ANTSIRABE (170 km)
Departure at 10 a.m across the High Plateau landscape to reach the town of Antsirabe or the “town of water”, a stop at Ambatolampy to visit a traditional workshop making pottery in aluminium .
Installation to the hotel.
Visit workshop for horn words and embroideries
Visit shop selling precious stones.
Day 2 : ANTSIRABE – AMBOSITRA (90km)
Visit around the town, the Tritriva lake, a volcanic lake located at 7 km West of the town, then the Betafo village which is at 22 km, continuation to Ambositra where you will go across Betsileo region, with a scenery of hills and teraced ricefields, specific for this tribe. Installation to the hotel.
Visit the Malagasy artisanal workshop reputed for its wood sculptures and caring.
Day 3 : AMBOSITRA – RANOMAFANA (170 km)
Departure for Ranomafana after breakfast, going across the Betsileo region with varied mountainous landscape and famous terraced ricefield.
Installation to the hotel.
Afternoon free at leisure in the Ranomafana village, Nocturnal walk in the Park.
Day 4 : RANOMAFANA
Visit the Ranomafana National Park which is located in the heart of a primary tropical humid forest, discover the fauna such as different species of lemur, chameleons, birds, flora such as orchids, different kinds of medicinal plants. The afternoon will be consacred to special fitness thanks to the thermal source, swimming or bathing.
Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5 : RANOMAFANA – FIANARANTSOA – AMBALAVAO (110 km)
Departure from Ranomafana to reach the small village of Ambalavao, with a stop in Fianarantsoa to discover the old town and a nice overview.
Installation to the hotel.
Visit the wine cave, the workshop making Antemoro paper, free visit of the town.
Visit the woving workshop, which is done by hand.
Visit the market of zebus, every Wednesday and Thursday.
Day 6 : AMBALAVAO – ISALO (270km)
A view at the workshop woving silk, a visit of 1h 30 in the farming reserve ANJA at 12km on the way to Toliary, before continuing to Isalo, passing at Ihosy, the capital of the Bara tribe, crossing through. The dry and desertic landscape of the South, the Horombe plateau which extend as far as the eye can see.

Day 7 : ISALO
A National Park
Formed by a sandstone massifs of ruined forms, of different statues, a whole day to discover the National Park, a refuge for endemic animal and plant species.5 sites to be visited : the canyon OF Maki, the Natural Pool, the black pool, Blue Pool. In one day, you can only visit 3 or n2 sites but if you want to visit the 5 sites, you need 2 days, possibility of camping inside the Park,
overnight at the hotel or in the Park tent.
Day 8 : ISALO – TOLIARY (230km)

Departure from Isalo at any time convenient for you, after Toliary, you can choose between going to Anakao or Ifaty.
Last itinerary across the desertic scenery and the South spiny forest before entering the sunny town of Ifaty or Anakao.
Activities = submarine plunging, diving
Excursion by pirogue to see the coral reefs.
This itinerary is just a suggestion, but if you are interested in the extension to:

Day 4 : AMBOSITRA - FIANARANTSOA ( 150 km )
Departure for Fianarantsoa after breakfast, driving across the Betsileo region with varied mountainous landscape and famous terraced ricefield.

Day 5 : FIANARANTSOA - MANAKARA by train (163 km )
Morning departure at Fianarantsoa Railway station to go to Manakara , it will take you 7 to 8 hours with 17 railways stop , This itinerary will allow you to discover the green scenery , houses on piles throught mountains , tunnels
At 23 km from Fianrantsoa , the convoy meets the Sahambavy thee plantation , then you discover the Mandriampotsy waterfall , forest of travellers trees and then go through the Andrambovato cliffs .Before the end of the trip in Manakara , the rails will cross the Manakara airport trail
At each stop , you will see street sellers , selling bananas , doughnuts , samos , cinnamons , so that you will make direct contact with the local people , and you can change along the trip also the waggon
The train is very important for the Tanalatribe , as it is the only means of transport for goods , fruits and vegetables
